Q: How old does my baby need to be before using sunscreen?

A: Baby skin is very sensitive to all elements, including the sun. In fact, sunburn in an infant can be considering a medical emergency. Up until six months babies cannot wear sunblock. Therefore it is very important to keep them covered. You can take them outside as long as they wear appropriate clothing, as well as the stroller is adequately shaded. After six months they can use sunblock. But I do recommend using the physical blockers, such as zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. It is pretty easy to find these zinc oxide or titanium dioxide sunblocks in your local pharmacy.
