Ban on Chocolate Milk Has Negative Effects

Many elementary schools in the US banned chocolate milk in their efforts to fight obesity, as it contains twice as many calories as milk. However, Cornell researchers found that the ban had a negative impact.

They studied elementary schools in Oregon for the study. Researchers found that instead of encouraging kids to drink milk, the ban resulted in a 10% reduction in milk sales. On an average, 29% of regular milk gets thrown out. Researchers fear that more kids would drop out of the school lunch program that could lead to new nutritional and economic issues. More ….
