Boston Doctors Prescribe Bike Rides to Fight Obesity
Boston doctors are adding to the old adage – an apple a day keeps the doctor way, by telling their obese patients that a bike-ride a day would keep the doctors away.
Doctors at Boston Medical Center have teamed up with a bicycle-sharing program called Hubway, which provides rental bikes at a reduced cost and free helmets, to help low-income patients fight obesity through biking. Doctors write prescription for the bike-ride program, and other doctors could soon be joining them in this effort. More….
