Caffeine Can Make Workouts Easier

Caffeine can make workouts easier, according to a study published in the Journal of Applied Physiology.

Study participants who rode stationary bicycles after drinking coffee or tea reported that the workout was easier, and they were more alert and engaged compared with how they felt during a second workout done after having a decaffeinated beverage.

One of the participants, Nicole Scrofani said, “I notice that if you don’t overdo it, if you just have a little bit of caffeine, I notice that it definitely does help my workout.”

Another participant noticed that coffee also suppressed her hunger pangs and prevented her from over-eating later.

Caffeine is known to affect physiology, mood, alertness and even appetite, and this study proves it. Doctors point out that for those suffering from high blood pressure and jitters, non-sugary juices and protein shakes are safer alternatives to caffeine.
