Next time you’re about to flip out, try diaphragmatic breathing. Breathe in through your nose on a slow count of three. Focus on pushing your stomach out as you breathe in. Now, breathe out through your mouth on a slow count of six.

This easy practice, which you should repeat several times, by the way, forces more oxygen through your body, leaving you calmer. The technique also forces your mind to focus on something other than whatever’s causing you distress.
