Category: Fusion Cooking

Try fusion cooking if you’re tired of eating the same kind of food day-in and day-out. Fusion cooking allows you to mix and match ingredients, cooking styles, and recipes, and come up with your own version of a dish.

If you’re in a foreign country and craving for some familiar food, you can take the local foods and vegetables and cook them in your native style. If you’re a vegan or vegetarian or just a picky eater who doesn’t eat certain foods, spices, or vegetables like garlic or onion, you can omit those ingredients and substitute with those you like, and come up with a healthy dish.

This is also your chance to explore and include some of the nutritious ingredients that you wouldn’t normally use, such as olive oil, olives, and herbs like oregano, thyme, basil, and different kinds of cheese (if you usually make Indian food).

This kind of creative cooking is particularly important for vegetarians and vegans because so much of the mainstream food is “off the plate” so to speak; but you can definitely use some of the ingredients and culinary styles to create a vegetarian or vegan version.

Trying different styles and ingredients also makes cooking so much more interesting! Of course, it requires a lot of experimentation to come up with something that’s tasty and worth serving to your family and friends; but it’s time well-spent, because in the process, you learn a lot, and expand your culinary skills and your repertoire of recipes.

Here are some Indian fusion recipes that I have created by adapting the originals to my liking. Try them and let me know what you think.
