CDC Confirms First Ebola Case Diagnosed in US

| September 30, 2014 Comment

The CDC has confirmed the first Ebola case diagnosed in the United States. The agency says the patient is in strict isolation at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas.

According to the CDC, the patient, a frequent traveler to Africa, had recently visited Liberia, where he contracted the virus, and returned to the U-S on September 20th. Director Tom Frieden said the man showed no signs of the disease while traveling, but did start showing symptoms on the 24th. That statement is aimed at addressing fears fellow travelers may have been infected; Frieden said Ebola does not spread from someone who does not have fever as their symptoms. Doctors expect preliminary results from their tests tomorrow.
