Chickpea Patties
Chickpea Patties make a healthy and filling vegetarian snack for kids as well as adults. Chickpeas contain a lot of protein and fiber and are a great addition to a healthy diet.

Ingredients
- 1 15oz can of chickpeas, drained and rinsed
- 1 cup onions, finely chopped
- 1 tsp ginger, grated
- 1 tsp coriander-cumin powder (dhania-jeera)
- 1 tsp red chilli powder
- 1 tbsp all-purpose flour (maida)
- 1/4 cup cilantro (coriander leaves) or parsley, finely chopped
- Salt to taste
- Vegetable oil for deep-frying
Preparation
- Place the chickpeas in a blender and pulse for a few seconds until coarsely chopped.
- In a bowl, add the chickpeas, onion, coriander-cumin, red chilli powders, salt, cilantro, and flour, and mash together to combine.
- Make 2-inch balls with this mixture and shape into 1-inch thick patties.
- Fry the chickpea patties until golden. Drain on a paper towel and cool on a wire rack.
- Serve the chickpea patties warm with ketchup or plain yogurt or methi yogurt.
Cooking Tip
If you want to cut down on oil, place the patties on a baking sheet and bake the in the oven at 375ºF for 15 minutes or until crisp.
