Dr. Oz to Matt Lauer: The show will go on – Despite his critics’ recent protests, Dr. Mehmet Oz believes that “without question, the show will survive it,” he told Today’s Matt Lauer on Friday morning.

“I want to keep doing the show for as long as I can because I think we played an important role in making America a better place.” Oz was recently the subject of a letter to Columbia University from a group of top doctors, demanding his removal from the faculty for his “egregious lack of integrity” for promoting what they call “quack treatments.” Yet the physician and talk show host noted that he has maintained his medical integrity while maintaining his dual role.

Dr.Oz asserted that the show “is much broader than what a doctor would say in his own practice because on the show, I’m gonna embrace, for example, unconventional practices,” including citing prayer as a wellness method, and exploring more holistic approaches from around the world.

Dr Oz said that he has been pushing boundaries his whole life and was willing to explore both high-tech and low-tech approaches, when it comes to health, and that,”…Wellness isn’t always found at a doctor’s office.”
