Early Predictors of Obesity

Two new studies looked at early predictors of obesity. The studies were published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA).

The fist study shows that babies who have great appetites, tend to grow quickly from birth through 15 months and are likely to develop obesity at a later age. A second study shows that a low response to feeling full can predict weight gain in childhood.

The studies also looked at genetics and dietary habits of mothers when pregnant. According to experts, this is an interesting theory, but needs follow-up research to confirm it. More….
