Everything you need to know about caffeine

Everything You Need to Know about Caffeine – Health coach Carey Peters (http://loseweightlikeacelebrity.com/) answers all of host Judy Greer’s questions about caffeine, including how much is too much?

How much caffeine is too much? It depends on the person, but it’s good to limit caffeine to 2 cups a day.

Caffeine can boost your workout but watch for the crash afterward. There’s a blood sugar issue with caffeine and you don’t want it to spike and crash because you’ll end up over-eating.

Decaffeinated drinks have 97% of caffeine removed.

You could use a coffee substitute called Teeccino, which is a blend of herbs, grains, fruits, and nuts. Another coffee substitute is Dandy Blend, which is made from dandelion roots and grains.

Black tea has a good amount of caffeine as well. And if you have black tea, it’s a good idea to combine it with some kind of protein to slow the absorption of caffeine.

Green tea offers many health benefits. It speeds up your metabolism. Green tea has slightly less caffeine than coffee. Green tea is not a cure-all but it has antioxidants and fights free radicals.

You could also try Macha tea, which is whole green tea leaves ground to a fine powder. Macha tea has 10 times the nutritional value of regular green tea.

Another healthy alternative to coffee is to use raw dark chocolate cacao powder for hot chocolate with extra kick and will give you plenty of energy without the caffeine.
