Mental health experts have long advocated exercise as a way to combat, and help prevent depression. Recent studies show that exercising three to five times a week, for at least 30 minutes, can help reduce depression symptoms.
While high-intensity, cardiovascular workouts showed the best results, any type of exercise – like walking, biking, swimming, kickboxing or even gardening – may help to reduce stress and boost self-esteem.
