Exercise Can Help Older Men with Hypertension

A study of over 2,100 elderly men with hypertension found that those with the highest levels of fitness had an almost 50% lower risk of death than those who were least fit. Those in the moderate-fitness category had a 36% lower death risk, while those in the low-fitness category had only 18% lower risk of death. The study followed the participants for nine years.

According to researchers, a moderate level of fitness is achievable for the elderly with high blood pressure. All it requires is a brisk walk of 20 to 40 minutes most days of the week.
