Exercise Improves Survival Rate among Prostate Cancer Patients – A new study from Karolinska Institute in Stockholm shows that physical activity and exercise can help men with prostate cancer live longer.

Researcher Stephanie Bonn and her team looked at over 4,000 men diagnosed with early-stage prostate cancer. Those who walked or biked for at least 20 minutes a day after the diagnosis reduced their risk of dying from the disease by 39% than those who didn’t.

The results were consistent regardless of the kind of treatment they received for the prostate cancer.

The researchers say the association between exercise and prostate cancer could be related to hormones, fat tissue or inflammation. They plan to further investigate the exact mechanisms.
