garam-garam

Garam-Garam is a crunchy, sweet-tangy snack you can have any time you need a quick munch. Garam-garam means hot-hot, and what makes this snack hot are the green chillies. One of those delicious street/beach foods, this is an easy recipe if you use store-bought hot-mixes (chivda) made with puffed rice, pressed rice, nuts, raisins, and spices. Mix in more peanuts, cashew nuts, and boiled chana (chickpeas/garbanzo) beans to add some protein and fiber and make it more nutritious.

Servings: 4-5
Cooking Time: 5 minutes

Ingredients

  • 4 cups chivda (hot mix), available in
  • Indian grocery stores
  • 1 cup onions, finely chopped
  • 1-2 green chillies, finely chopped (adjust to taste)
  • 2 tsp ghee (clarified butter) or oil
  • 2 tsp lime/lemon juice
  • 2 tsp cilantro (coriander leaves), finely chopped
  • Salt to taste

Preparation

  1. In a large bowl, mix the chivda, onions, green chillies, salt, and ghee. Add the lime juice and mix well.
  2. Garnish with cilantro and serve immediately.
