Health Benefits of Wine – Host Judy Greer drops by Los Angeles popular 320 South Wine Lounge, where sommelier and general manager Edgar Poureshagh teaches her the health benefits of wine.

Wine is packed with antioxidants. The two antioxidants wine has are flavonoids and reserveratrol.

Flavonoids are naturally occurring plant pigments with antibacterial, antiviral, anti-allergenic, and anti-inflammatory, and anti-tumor properties. These antioxidants in wine help reduce high blood pressure. People who drink wine regularly are 30% more likely to have lower blood pressure.

Reserveratrol is said to help prevent damage to blood vessels, reduce bad cholesterol, and prevent blood clots. Reserveratrol reduces inflammation and carcinogens, and helps reduce the risk of diabetes and heart disease.

Chardonnay doesn’t give you the full benefits that wine can. Many people who live long drink wine daily. Most countries give the guidelines of an intake limit of 2 drinks a day for women.

Wine contains tannins and tannins come from grape skins, stems, and seeds used to produce wine. High-tannin wines include Nebbiolo and Cabernet and Sauvignon.

A glass of wine (5 oz) contains 100 calories. Sweet wines tend to have more calories. Enjoy wine with a meal to get the health benefits from it.
