Healthy Snacks to Avoid if Dieting

| July 30, 2014 Comment

Not all healthy snacks are made equal – here are some healthy snacks you might want to avoid if dieting.

Dried fruit are often recommended as healthy, but nutritionists point out that once the water is removed,  what’s left are more calories and sugar than you would want.  A quarter cup of raisins contains as much carb content as two slices of bread.

Trail mix is another snack to avoid if you are trying to lose weight. A typical bag of trail mix contains 900 calories. Consuming just half of the trail mix will be a third of the daily recommended calories.

Granola is great for energy but a single cup contains 560 calories and 28 grams of fat.

Other snacks on the no-no list include fruit yogurt and smoothies made at restaurants.
