Illinois Approves Marijuana for Epilepsy

Illinois Governor, Pat Quinn, signed a law this past Sunday to approve marijuana for epilepsy.

Illinois joins other US states, such as Colorado and Washington, that are trying to make marijuana available for medical uses.

Research has shown that marijuana can relieve some of the symptoms of kids and adults who have epilepsy and other seizure disorders. Traditional treatments for these disease have not been effective.

The Illinois law takes effect in January, and with parents’ permission, kids with seizures will be allowed to be treated with non-smokable forms of cannabis. The state is coming up with a broader medical marijuana plan that will go into effect early next year. More….
