Tips to keep your immune system strong during the ‘flu season:

  • Avoid sugar – Sugar decreases your body’s immune function.
  • Eat anti-oxidant-rich fruits and vegetables; antioxidants strengthen your immunity against disease.
  • Take your supplements – vitamin C, echinacea and zinc boost immunity.
  • Get good sleep at least 7-8 hours – poor sleeping habits decrease immune function. When staying at hotels, use blackout curtains to get sufficient sleep.
  • Don’t forget to exercise when travelling.
  • Be sure to sanitize – wash your hands. The hotel TV remote control is the dirtiest surfaces in the room.
  • Get your omega-3 fatty acids to keep your immune system functioning well. If you’re a vegan or vegetarian and don’t eat fish, try plankton omega-3 capsules.
