Tips to keep your immune system strong during the ‘flu season:
- Avoid sugar – Sugar decreases your body’s immune function.
- Eat anti-oxidant-rich fruits and vegetables; antioxidants strengthen your immunity against disease.
- Take your supplements – vitamin C, echinacea and zinc boost immunity.
- Get good sleep at least 7-8 hours – poor sleeping habits decrease immune function. When staying at hotels, use blackout curtains to get sufficient sleep.
- Don’t forget to exercise when travelling.
- Be sure to sanitize – wash your hands. The hotel TV remote control is the dirtiest surfaces in the room.
- Get your omega-3 fatty acids to keep your immune system functioning well. If you’re a vegan or vegetarian and don’t eat fish, try plankton omega-3 capsules.
