Jump start Your Digestion with Lemon Juice – Lemon juice mixed with warm water is a natural way to start your morning routine, and is a common digestive aid in Ayurvedic medicine. Not only does it help to keep your digestive system functioning well, it also strengthens your immune system.

Lemons and other citrus fruits contain bioflavonoids, a group of compounds that boost immunity by protecting the cells of your body against environmental pollutants, toxins, and germs.

Bioflavonoids also help reduce cholesterol and the risk of plaque formation and blood clots in arteries that can lead to heart attacks and strokes. Studies have shown that people who consume the most bioflavonoids reduce their risk for developing cardiovascular disease.

Lemon juice can also help restore the acid-alkaline balance in your body. Maintaining this balance is critical to good digestive health as it supports the growth of healthy bacteria and destroys harmful bacteria and viruses that thrive in an acidic environment.
