Keurig’s New Recyclable K-Cup

Keurig’s New Recyclable K-Cup – On its website, Keurig says, “We have committed to making 100% of K-Cup® packs recyclable by 2020.” It seems to be keeping its promise and reducing its carbon footprint.

The company has released a travel-sized pod that works with the Keurig 2.0 system, after it received a lot of criticism for its K-Cups, which are not recyclable. In fact, the inventor of  the K-Cup, John Sylvan, recently said that he regretted inventing it.

The “K-Mug” pods as they are called, are made from polypropylene plastic, and can be separated from the lid and filter for recycling. The pods can brew a large travel mug-size of coffee and offer a lot more brewing options with the Keurig 2.0 system.

In its release statement, Keurig saya, “When we launched Keurig 2.0, one of the key insights we heard from consumers is that they want to brew more: they want to brew larger quantities of coffee, and they also want more brewing options to accommodate their varying drink occasions throughout the day. The introduction of the K-Mug pod satisfies those desires….”
