Most Nurses Don’t Feel Ready to Fight Ebola – According to a survey by the largest professional association of registered nurses in the United States, three out of four nurses say their hospital hasn’t provided sufficient education for them on Ebola.

National Nurses United has been surveying health care workers across the US as the Ebola outbreak has widened globally. After a Texas nurse who cared for the first patient diagnosed with the Ebola in the US tested positive for the virus Sunday, the group released its latest survey findings.

According to the survey, 3 out of 4 nurses say the hospitals they work for have not provided enough education and training to deal with Ebola patients. Seventy-six percent of the 1,900 nurses surveyed said that their hospitals have not provided an official policy on admitting potential patients with Ebola. Thirty-seven percent of the nurses also say that their hospitals have insufficient supplies of equipment need for containing Ebola, like goggles, face-shields, and fluid-resistant gowns.

National Nurses United is urging hospitals to quickly upgrade the emergency preparedness of hospitals to receive and treat patients with Ebola.
