New York City Says Hospital Testing Healthcare Worker for Ebola – A New York City hospital is running Ebola tests on a healthcare worker, Dr. Craig Spencer, with Doctors Without Borders who returned to the United States from West Africa with a fever and gastrointestinal symptoms, the city’s health department said on Thursday.
Preliminary test results were expected in the next 12 hours.
His girlfriend is in isolation at this time and health officials have sectioned off his apartment as a precautionary measure. Apparently, Spencer came into contact with very few people.
New York city health officials are also giving out fliers to people living near Dr. Spencer with questions about whether they’ve come into contact with him, if they’re experiencing any Ebola-like symptoms, and so on.
Doctors Without Borders said in a statement that the patient being tested had recently worked in an Ebola-affected country in West Africa with the humanitarian organization.
