Optimal Number of Hours for Sleep

New research shows that the optimal number of hours for sleep is seven. Researchers at Brigham University and Women’s Hospital in Massachusetts looked at sleep patterns in middle-aged women and found that too much and too little sleep can both lead to memory loss in old age.

The results indicate that seven is the average number of hours of sleep that we should try to get per day to maintain memory later in life. Changing sleeping habits, and keeping regular sleep schedules should help prevent cognitive impairment in old age.
