Picky Eaters May Be Suffering from Gastroparesis

Not all picky eaters are picky, according to nutritionists. Some of them could be suffering from a condition called gastroparesis, where food moves through the intestines slowly, resulting in a feeling of fullness, loss of appetite, abdominal discomfort, and vomiting and other reflux issues. Dismissing a child’s refusal to eat certain foods could exacerbate the issue and the standard approach of offering refused foods needs to change.

Nutritionists think that, in adults, uncontrolled blood sugars in diabetics could be damaging the vagus nerve, which controls muscle contraction in the stomach, and causes this problem, among other reasons, while in kids, the exact cause is not known. Experts suggest monitoring the symptoms carefully, so patients can be diagnosed and helped earlier. More….
