Pistachios May Relieve Stress

Pistachios may relieve stress, according to a recent study by Pennsylvania State University researchers. The study found that among type 2 diabetics, eating pistachios can reduce vascular constriction when the body is in stress.

Other experts believe that it is the act of breaking open and chewing the pistachios that helps relieve stress by slowing down the eating process and increasing mindfulness. Eating slowly can have other beneficial effects as well. It can make you aware of satiety signals and prevent you from overeating.

Other foods that can slow down the eating process include wheat berries and other hardy grains, beans and legumes, and seeds. Eating slowly can also help with digestion. More….
