Powerade Won’t Have Brominated Vegetable Oil

Powerade, a sports drink,  won’t have brominated vegetable oil (BVO), according to Coca Cola. A petition was started against the use of the ingredient as it’s unsafe and usually found in products such as flame retardants. The ingredient is banned in Europe and  Japan.

Last year, PepsiCo had decided to remove BVO from it’s sports drink, Gatorade, in response to customer feedback. The oil is used as a stabilizer for flavoring oils in fruit-flavored drinks, and is included in many drinks.

Consumers are becoming more and more health conscious, and are campaigning against unsafe ingredients in foods. More….
