Powerhouse Fruits and Vegetables

Researchers at William Paterson University in New Jersey came up with a list of 41 powerhouse fruits and vegetables, and topping the list is watercress. They ranked the fruits and veggies based on the amount of 17 important nutrients that each one contains, such as potassium, calcium, folate, protein, fiber, vitamin A, and vitamin B12.

Watercress tops the list because it is packed with all these nutrients, followed by Chinese cabbage, chard, beet greens, spinach, and chicory.

Fruits did not score well, with red pepper at the top of the list, followed by pumpkin, tomato, and lemon. Berries like raspberries, blueberries, and cranberries didn’t make the list because, according to the scientists, there’s no uniform data on recommended intake amounts on the phytochemicals that berries contain.
