Restaurants Still Offering Single Meals Totaling More Than a Daily Calorie Limit – Chains like Burger King and McDonald’s are infamous for containing calorie bombs, but what about Chipotle or the Cheesecake Factory? Lots of restaurants have single menu items that total more than a day’s worth of calories!

More and more restaurants are introducing smaller portion sizes but are they small enough. A New York Times feature shows that several restaurants serve siingle meals that have calories totaling the total a day’s worth of calories. For instance, Burger King’s double whopper with onion rings and a shake amounts to 2,000 calories, as well as McDonald’s chicken sandwich, fries, and coke and McFlurry. Even  Even restaurants like Chipotle, which claims to be a healthier fast food restaurant, a meal of a burrito, chips, guacamole, and soda contains 2,000 calories.

The peanut-butter-caramel shake from Sonic is a whopping 2,090 calories – that’s just for the shake alone!

Experts say it’s not your fault if you want to finish everything on your plate; this behavior was coined in the 1950s as the “completion compulsion”. Experts say if you want to avoid consuming excess calories, cooking at home is always the healthy  option.
