San Francisco BART Commuters May Have Been Exposed to Measles – According to California health officials, commuters in the San Francisco Nay Area who used the Bay Area Rapid Transit system last week may have been exposed to measles, as they discovered that an infectious patient used the train to commute to and from work.

The BART rider is the first case of measles in the Contra Costa county in the Bay Area since the measles outbreak in Southern California. Health officials say that the risk for contracting the disease from the rider is low but are tracing the movements of the person, so they can inform others who had close contact with him. The infected rider is not hospitalized and is said to be recovering.

Those who have been vaccinated or have had measles before are unlikely to be infected again, but those who have not been vaccinated are at high risk.
