Symptoms of Iron Deficiency

Iron deficiency is very common in the US and women tend to have it more than men. Iron helps form hemoglobin, which helps red blood cells carry oxygen throughout the body.

Symptoms of iron deficiency include exhaustion, pale and sickly complexion, shortness of breath, heavy periods in women, pounding heart, restless leg syndrome, and others.

Iron deficiency causes less oxygen to reach the tissues, so our body doesn’t get the energy it needs. If fatigue is accompanied by feelings of weakness, irritability, and inability to focus, iron deficiency might be the reason.

Hemoglobin gives our skin its hue, and a lack of iron can make it pale. Iron issues can also cause irregular heartbeat and heart murmurs, if left untreated for a long time. More….
