The New Techie Diet – Silicon Valley employees are increasingly resorting to meal-replacement protein drinks to save time and get more work done.

Coders, engineers and venture capitalists are consuming liquid meals like Schmoylent, Soylent, Schmilk and People Chow.The products are rich in protein, come in powder form and are quick and easy to make into drinks. You just need to add either water or milk to the powder. This is a new trend in the tech industry.

Makers of the powders say that their products are better than the ones that have been available so far – they have too much sugar and protein. Powdered drinks like Soylent and Schmoylent on the other hand, contain nutrients like magnesium, zinc and vitamins along with protein. People can live a healthy life even if all they consumed was these drinks.

Soylent, based in Los Angeles, that year and gained more than $3 million in funding from the crowdsourcing site Tilt. The founder is Rob Rhinehart, a software engineer, who came up with the idea when he realized that his daily food intake was becoming poor because of the long hours spent at work.
