She points out that many people tend to over-focus on planning their weight-loss meals and exercise, but once they achieve their weight-loss goals, they have no plan to deal with the changes.

Most lifestyle changes made during a weight-loss plan need to be sustained to keep the weight off long-term, and this is where, most people fail. Starting with realistic goals is key here. Experts recommend focusing on dietary plan initially, and making sure you’re consuming fewer calories, as 85% of weight-loss comes from managing your food intake. Then comes exercise; incorporating adequate exercise plays an important role in maintaining the weight-loss.

Research suggests that including more than 250 minutes of moderate to intense physical exercise a week can help prevent weight-gain. Monitoring weight on a regular basis and modifying your lifestyle accordingly are important to prevent weight-gain. More….
