Vitamin D Deficiency May Indicate Prostate Cancer
Vitamin D deficiency may indicate prostate cancer, according to researchers at Northwestern University, Illinois.
Researchers found that European-American men who had low levels of vitamin D were 3.66 times more likely to develop a severe form of prostate cancer later in life. African-American men seemed to be at a greater risk, as they had even lower levels of the vitamin.
Studies show the importance of vitamin D in general well-being and it’s lack can lead to several types of cancer. Researchers recommend getting screened for its deficiency and taking measures to treat it. The best source of vitamin D is exposure to sun for 15 to 20 minutes a day.
