Weight Loss Myths Debunked

| November 2, 2014 Comment

Weight Loss Myths Debunked – Host Judy Greer sits down with health coach Carey Peters, who debunks three weight loss myths, including that fat is bad.

Myth #1: Fat makes you fat

Carey: That’s true! Actually, you really do need fat to lose weight and for proper functioning of your body. In non-fat foods, manufacturers add a lot of sugarswhich make those foods bad. You do need healthy fats … to feel satisfied, to make certain hormones in your body, to make your skin look beautiful.

Myth #2: You can’t eat any carbs (carbohydrates)

Carey: Carbs will not make you gain fat if you eat whole, unprocessed or complex carbohydrates like sweet potatoes, whole grains, squashes, turnips, etc. It’s the processed carbs like breads, cookies, scones and muffins that are bad.

Myth #3: Starvation= Weight-Loss

Carey: If your calories are too low, your body’s metabolism slows down, and when you get off the low-calorie diet, your body will hang on to every calorie you consume.
