Wife of American Ebola patient grateful for his return – An emotional moment for the family of Dr. Kent Brantly.
The American aid worker infected with the Ebola virus is able to walk into an Atlanta hospital on his own two feet.
Brantly arrived in the U.S. from Liberia to begin treatment at Emory University Hospital.
Dr. Jay Varkey of the Emory Healthcare Network said, “We are ready. We are looking forward to try and help this patient and assist his family in any way possible.”
A team of infectious disease doctors will treat Brantly in a special containment unit. The room is really designed to provide ICU level care for critically ill patients as well as to have a surrounding infrastructure that really contains any potential pathogens.”
His family will be able to see him through a plate-glass window and speak to him by phone. Brantly’s wife issued a statement saying “It was a relief to welcome Kent home… “
