Woman’s dying wish to see Rembrandt exhibit granted by Dutch charity – A terminally ill 78-year-old woman’s dying wish to see a Rembrandt exhibition was granted by Dutch charity Stichting Ambulance Wens (Last Wish Foundation) this week.
The woman, who suffers from ALS or Loh Gehrig’s disease which causes nerve cell damage in the brain and spinal cord, was brought to Amsterdam’s Rijksmuseum with three other terminal patients on Tuesday. The four were transported in hospital beds and given a private, after-hours view of the exhibition.
The museum’s general director told Quartz, “We give our full support to this extraordinary initiative, and have great admiration for everyone concerned in these very special moments.”
