Worriers More Likely to Be Wordsmiths, Researchers Say – Canadian researchers found that people who self-identified as worriers scored higher in verbal intelligence tests than those more fret-free. However, verbal intelligence is also unfortunately linked to depression.

Researchers from a Canadian university found that people who identified themselves as worriers are more articulate and verbally more intelligent than their worry-free counterparts. Researchers went so far as to say there are certain advantages to being a worrier as their higher scores in verbal intelligence tests show. However, they scored poorly in tests that measured nonverbal intelligence like geometric puzzles and abstract reasoning.

Researchers concluded that since those who worry tend to dwell more on past and future events, with constant “what-if” questioning, causes them to be generally better with reports.
