Yolanda Foster battling failing sight due to lyme disease – Model-turned-reality TV star Yolanda Foster has been robbed of the ability to read and write after suffering a setback in her battle with chronic Lyme disease.
The “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star, whose husband is legendary music mogul David Foster, was diagnosed with the tick-borne illness in 2012 and previously revealed it had left her bed-ridden for eight months.
She recently underwent treatment at a hospital in Singapore, but reveals she has been unable to update her online blog for BravoTV dot com for some time as her brain function and sight have been heavily affected by the condition.
She admits the disease has left her feeling like someone “confiscated my brain and tied my hands behind my back,” and continues, “I have lost the ability to read, write, or even watch TV, because I can’t process information or any stimulation for that matter.”
Lyme disease is the most common tick-borne ilness in North America and Europe, and is primarliy caused by bites from deer ticks the size of a sesame seed. Symptoms include rash at the bite site, and flu-like symptoms like fever, chills, and headache, as well as nerve-related symptoms like limb numbness and meningitis.
In some cases, Lyme disease can cause a potentially blinding eye disorder called uveitis, a condition that results in inflammation of the uvea, the vascular layer of the eye that lies between the retina and the white of the eye.
