Your blood pressure medications not working? According to doctors these could be the reasons.

You could be experiencing white coat syndrome – nervousness at the doctor’s could be hiking up your blood pressure. You need to make sure you’re completely relaxed before taking your blood pressure.

If you don’t take your medications regularly and at scheduled times, they won’t be effective. If you also take other medications, those could be interfering with your blood pressure meds. It’s important to let doctors know all the medications you’re on, so they can prescribe the right medication for you.

A common reason for high readings is inaccurate readings from wearing the wrong-sized cuff to not keeping your arm at heart level. Many doctors suggest taking six blood pressure readings in a row, six minutes apart, and taking an average of those readings for an accurate measurement.

Other factors that could be preventing your meds from working are a high-salt diet, obesity, lack of exercise and inactivity, smoking, alcohol consumption, and other medical conditions. More….
