Zuckerbergs Donate $75 Million to SF Hospital – Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Dr. Priscilla Chan have donated $75 million to the San Francisco General Hospital Foundation. The donation is the largest private donation the SF General Hospital Foundation has received since 1994.

According to the hospital foundation spokesman, the funds will be used to complete the new acute care and trauma center and to buy state-of-the-art equipment and technology. The foundation wants to convert the existing hospital into an ambulatory care facility.

Zuckerberg said that the donation can help provide more healthcare access to those in the SF Bay Area. The new center is scheduled to open at the end of the year.

Sue Currin, San Francisco General’s chief executive officer says, the gift has special meaning since Dr. Priscilla Chan has trained at SF General and knows the mission of the hospital.
