A2 Milk Might Be Easier on Your Tummy

A2 Milk Might Be Easier on Your Tummy – If you experience bloating and digestive issues after drinking regular milk, A2 milk may work for you.

The New Zealand-based A2 Milk company says that the milk is pasteurized and also free of growth hormone and antibiotics that are commonly found in the regular milk sold in the US and Europe. A2 is a protein found in the old world cows in Asia and Africa. A2 protein is said to be easy on the stomach if you have some bloating and gas but are not really lactose intolerant.

Most of the milk available today in the US and Europe contains the A1 protein, which emerged as a natural mutation in the European dairy herds, and since these breeds produced more milk than other breeds, the A1 breed spread throughout Europe and the United States, and today, cows in the US and Europe produce milk that contains both A1 and A2 proteins, and in some cases, either one or the other.

The A2 Milk Company sells only milk that contains A2 protein, and uses a DNA test to ensure that. There have also been some studies that show that A1 protein is linked to diabetes, heart disease and other health problems. While the jury is still out on this issue, experts say that if you have mild lactose intolerance, it won’t hurt to give the A2 milk a try.

The A2 milk will be available at Whole Foods and Ralph’s stores in California this summer. It’s already available in New Zealand, Britain, and Australia.
