America No Longer the Fattest Country – According to the CIA statistics on international obesity, the fattest countries in the world are the Pacific Island nations—American Samoa, Nauru, and Cook Islands. The US is 18th on the list.
Among larger countries, Mexico replaced the US two years ago the fattest list. Obesity has been growing worldwide, and according to a report released by the World Health Organization (WHO), more than doubled since 1980s. The report also notes the disparity in obesity among men and women, with women in Africa, Southeast Asia, and the Eastern Mediterranean being twice as likely to be obese than men.
According to WHO, the good thing about the global obesity epidemic is that we can do something about it.
