Broccoleaf – The New Greens to Try in 2015 – Broccoleaf are the leaves of the broccoli plant, which until now, were used by farmers as a natural soil cleanser, but now food manufacturers and chefs are experimenting with new ways to include it in our diet.

Akasha Richmond, chef and owner of Akasha’s in Los Angeles, has used the tender broccoli leaves in soups, salds, and juices. The leaves have a sweet taste and lend themselves to a variety of hot, cold, and creamy dishes. According to Akasha, the broccoleaf can be a great substitute for kale, espcially, if you can’t get fresh kale.

In terms of nutrition, one serving of broccoleaf can provide your daily dose of calcium. The leaves are also rich in vitamins A and K, and antioxidants that can help prevent cancer and improves digestion.
