Daniel Day-Lewis Knighted by Duke of Cambridge In Buckingham Palace Ceremony – The three time Best Actor Oscar winner was knighted for his achievements in drama. He said he was ‘amazed’ and ‘delighted’ about his knighthood.

You may refer to him now as “Sir Daniel Day-Lewis.” The Oscar winner was knighted by Duke of Cambridge. A ceremony at Buckingham Palace, the 70-year-old Day-Lewis was recognized for his acting achievements. He’s the only person to win an Oscar for Best Actor three times.

Day-Lewis is notoriously picky about taking film roles and he’s starred in just five films since 1998. In the most recent film, Day-Lewis played American president Abraham Lincoln biopic, “Lincoln” which won him his third Oscar, as well as his fourth BAFTA.

He won his other two Oscars for 1989 role in “My Left Foot” and in 2007 movie, “There Will Be Blood”. Daniel has a reputation for being a model method actor, being in character on and off the screen.

About his knighthood, he said,”I’m entirely amazed and utterly delighted in equal measure.”
