Leonardo DiCaprio to Establish Eco-Friendly Resort on Private Island – Leonardo DiCaprio says he is planning to build an environmentally friendly resort on an island he purchased off the coast of Belize.
In an interview with The New York Times, the Wolf of Wall Street actor revealed he had purchased Blackadore Caye for $1.75 million and will be building an eco-friendly luxury resort on the island in hopes of resorting its 104 acres of uninhabited land.
DiCaprio told the paper, “The main focus is to do something that will change the world.” He said,”With the onset of climate change, there are huge challenges, so we want the structure to not only enhance and improve the environment, but to be a model for the future.”
This restoration project is just one of many ways DiCaprio has pushed for environmental awareness.
