The study involved 150 participants aged 22 to 75 with no history of diabetes or heart problems who were asked to stick to either a low-carb or low-fat diet for a year. The low-fat group reduced their fat consumption to less than 30% of the daily recommended allowance. The low-carb group increased their fat intake to more than 40% of the daily recommended allowance. Results showed that low-fat dieters lost an average of only 4 pounds, while low-carb dieters lost 12 pounds, despite the increase in fat intake.
