New Science Book Explains Why Our Knees Wobble atop Cliffs, among Other Things

New Science Book Explains Why Our Knees Wobble Atop Cliffs, among Other Things – New Scientist Magazine has compiled a book answering the most obscure and intriguing questions they’ve ever been asked. The book, called “Question Everything,” is out now.

The book answers questions like, “Why do our noses run in cold weather?” and “Why do thunderstorms set off car-alarms?”

Maybe you’re wondering about those trick birthday candles that don’t blow out when you try to.

The books says our noses run due to condensation and evaporation, and can be prevented by breathing out through your mouth.

Car alarms go off during thunderstorms because of shock and pressure detected through cars’ speakers.

And the trick birthday candles use a coating of magnesium in the wick that reignites even from an ember burning at a low temperature.

And our knees wobble atop cliffs because our brains do not receive any indication of any ground for us to walk on. Our legs begin to over-correct, which makes for wobbly knees.
