For aftercare, DO use a cold compress to reduce discomfort and swelling. But DON’T layer on pore-clogging products, like heavy lotions, creams and severe exfoliates, unless you’re willing to deal with the possible resulting ingrown hairs.

Speaking of those dreaded ingrown hairs, the best way to avoid them is to start exfoliating the skin within 3 days of your wax. But, if you do see one, DON’T pick it, tweeze or shave over it. You’ll just disrupt the hair cycle and dull the results. Go see a doctor or go back to the waxer instead.

For the best results you should also avoid sun, tanning and shaving.
