Sabra Hummus May Be Contaminated with Listeria – A random sample check at a Michigan store tested positive for listeria monocytogenes, and Sabra Dipping Company has voluntariy recalled almost 30,000 cases of its hummus product.

The US Food and Drug Administration has issued a list of the recalled products and has asked consumers who bought the products to dispose of them safely or to return to the store for a full refund. There have been no reports of any illness caused by the product.

Listeria can cause high fever, severe headache, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria can also cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women. In the young and elderly and anyone with weak immune systems, listeria infection can be deadly.
